Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024
From July 11 to 14, 2024, the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK showcased many internationally renowned automotive brands.
Grass, villa, enthusiasts, and the hill climb race – compared to various car exhibitions around the world, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the few events that remain purely focused on automotive culture and technology. This year’s Goodwood Festival was held with the theme “Horseless to Hybrid,” celebrating 130 years of technological evolution and achievements in the automotive industry, witnessing the transition from fuel-powered to all-electric and hybrid vehicles. As the global automotive industry steps into the era of smart electrification, the historic Goodwood Festival has welcomed many new faces, such as the Lotus Emeya, MINI John Cooper Works, VW ID.7 Pro S, and ALPINE A290. However, today, we are going to introduce a Chinese luxury car manufacturer that had never participated in the Goodwood Festival before—HONGQI.

HONGQI Star Products: EH7 & EHS7
At the afternoon product launch, Giles Taylor, Vice President of Global Design and Chief Creative Officer of FAW Group, detailed the design philosophy behind the new HONGQI products, and Jiang Feng, CEO of Series 7 Production Line of China FAW Group Co., Ltd., introduced the highlights.
The EH7
The HONGQI EH7 boasts a range of 660 kilometers, addressing the common concern of range anxiety among electric vehicle owners. What’s most astonishing is that the EH7 features a mysterious low-temperature technology that HONGQI has debuted in the electric vehicle industry (the specific technology name has not been provided by HONGQI). However, the brand claims that this technology significantly enhances the lithium-ion battery’s performance, allowing the battery to experience almost no degradation at -10°C, and to retain 90% of its charge at -20°C, achieving an excellent low-temperature range retention rate of 70% for the entire vehicle. With the battery performance of the HONGQI EH7, it is nearly capable of surpassing all current electric vehicle products in the European market. We will continue to follow up and report on this product, hoping to receive further solid evidence from HONGQI. However, perhaps we will only know the full truth when it is officially launched someday.
Additionally, it can gain over 100 kilometers of range with just a 5-minute charge and a 22,500 rpm motor that delivers class-leading power of 455 kW and 756 Nm of torque, highlighting its positioning as an “extremely safe and high-performance large all-electric sedan.”
The EHS7
For the exterior, the HONGQI EHS7 is designed with a natural and dynamic aesthetic. The broad and robust front end appears more powerful than the EH7. The distinctive 7-shaped headlights on both sides, equipped with LED light sources, support dynamic lighting effects and offer excellent visibility when illuminated.
The vehicle dimensions are 4925/1950/1680mm, with a wheelbase of 3000mm. The new model will be equipped with a maximum power output of 253 kW. As a mid-to-large all-electric SUV focused on providing both convenient driving control and enjoyable experiences, users can remotely control features through smartphones, such as setting the air conditioning temperature. While driving, users can adjust over 100 vehicle functions through continuous voice commands lasting up to 20 seconds.
To better cater to the European market, the EHS7 demonstrates substantial commitment by supporting commonly used European features such as Spotify, Dailymotion, CarPlay, and Android Auto.
